Potato is an increasingly important crop in Ethiopia, but the origin of local cultivars grown throughout the country is unknown. Potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) is the world’s third most important food crop in overall production after rice and wheat, and is a food security crop (Devaux et al. 2014) in some countries, including Ethiopia.
